Empowering Women: Reflections on our International Women’s Day Event

Westerville, Ohio [APRIL 1, 2024] –

At Sensience, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace where everyone can thrive. This commitment was evident during our recent International Women’s Day virtual event, where our CEO, Julie Furber, hosted a panel discussion featuring three remarkable women leaders from within our company: Stephanie Corbey, Amy Hertel, and Becki Watson.

Stephanie Corbey, our Sales Operations Manager, emphasized the importance of fostering an inclusive environment for women in leadership roles. She highlighted the need for a multifaceted approach that addresses systemic barriers and provides individual support. Initiatives such as regular feedback and recognition, formal sponsor and mentorship programs, and employee resource groups can create an inclusive environment where women feel supported, empowered, and equipped to succeed in leadership roles.

Stephanie shared her insights on building confidence and resilience over the course of a career. She emphasized the importance of learning from failure and embracing setbacks as opportunities for growth. By continuously seeking opportunities for learning and adaptation, Stephanie has cultivated confidence and resilience, allowing her to navigate challenges with strength and bounce back stronger than before.

Amy Hertel, Director of Sales for Automotive, echoed Stephanie’s sentiments, emphasizing the significance of mentorship in nurturing female talent within our company. She spoke passionately about the role of mentorship programs in providing guidance, support, and opportunities for growth, empowering women to realize their full potential.

Becki Watson, our VP of Finance, shared her personal mantra: “Never let someone else define you or your success.” Becki’s words resonated deeply with attendees, reminding them of the importance of self-determination and resilience in the face of adversity.

One of the key announcements made during the event was the launch of a new employee resource group dedicated to supporting women at Sensience. This initiative underscores our commitment to creating a more inclusive workplace where women feel empowered to thrive and succeed. Through networking opportunities, professional development workshops, and mentorship programs, we aim to provide women with the tools and resources they need to excel in their careers.

As we reflect on our International Women’s Day event, we’re reminded of the incredible talent, resilience, and determination of the women in our organization. By fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, we’re not only enriching our workplace but also driving positive change within our company and beyond.

At Sensience, we believe that when women are empowered to succeed, we all succeed. Together, we are committed to breaking down barriers, challenging stereotypes, and creating a brighter, more inclusive future for everyone.
